Karate

Everyone has to discover things for themselves, to a certain degree. In our culture, this is often called being a teenager (being stupid, for short). My boss takes it to a whole new level. He hated dogs until he was bullied into getting one for the family and became the quintessential dog person. He now owns bulldog checks.

So, when he told me that his daughter was in a karate tournament and started getting animated when describing the whole thing, I saw where this was going.

"You are about to become one of those crazy karate dads, aren't you?"
"Better. I want to *take* karate."

My boss is 54.

"Are you going to wear the karate outfit?"
"Of course."
"Then I want to take karate too." Obviously. "And I want to be in your class. And bring a camera."

There are two different adult karate classes that we could both take - they start in the middle of April. As soon as he can pick which evening he wants, we are signing up. Unless he punks out on me.

I've started a daily campaign at the office to ensure that he does not punk out. It mostly involves pestering phone calls and peppy motivational talks about loosing that belly and fitting comfortably into his suits again.

Hopefully, absurd pictures to come.

I was so excited when I saw you'd blogged - Congrats! :)
So what's wrong with going on your own if your boss "punks" out?
I am seriously looking forward to the pictures...and seeing how much you get in to the whole martial arts thing...

Have fun. I need to get Loofa enrolled in a tae kwon do class. They are all the rage here for little boys.
